Chocolate chip cookies

We chat with Candice about a beloved chocolate chip, walnut and oatmeal cookie recipe that was passed down generations in Canada.

Chocolate chip, walnut and oatmeal cookies recipe

Ingredients

125g butter

½ cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 ½ cups of whole wheat flour (or gluten free alternative flour)

2 cups oats

200g good quality dark chocolate chips (or milk)

1 ½ walnut halves, roughly chopped

1 tablespoon of vanilla essence or maple syrup

2 tablespoons cinnamon

Method

Preheat the oven to 180C before lining baking trays with unbleached baking paper.

Using an electric beater, mix in the butter and sugar together before adding in the egg.

Then sift the flour over the butter, sugar and egg mixture and combine well with a wooden spoon.

Make little balls with the cookie mix and place them on the baking paper covered trays.

Use a fork to lightly press down on the cookie mixture to flatten them.

Depending on your oven, try 20-25 mins (and check until golden brown).

Remove trays and let cookies cool.

Enjoy with a cool glass of milk.
