Out From The Cold: Searching For Elaine is an investigative series about the disappearance of Sydney schoolgirl Elaine Johnson.

 

This podcast is in development for release in 2024.

 

On March 20, 2023 Elaine Johnson turned 60.

 

Elaine was just 16 when she left her family home in southern Sydney in early 1980. When she was first reported missing to Cronulla police station Elaine was treated as a runaway. Incredibly, the first known police statement in her missing person case was taken decades after she vanished. 

 

In the weeks leading up to her disappearance, Elaine left home after arguing with her father about a house party. It is believed she stayed with friend Kerry Anne Joel at Cronulla Caravan Park, known by locals as Jenola Caravan Park.

Not seen since 1980

Neither Elaine or Kerry have been seen since February 1980.

​

More than 40 years have passed since Elaine’s disappearance. Her family continue to search for their beloved daughter, sister and friend.

​

Her family are working with journalist Kate Kachor on Searching For Elaine, an Out From The Cold series. 

 

The series will examine the circumstances surrounding Elaine’s disappearance and hopes to answer one of her family’s biggest questions - what happened to Elaine?

 

Out From The Cold: Searching For Elaine is a project in development from Happy Tuesday Productions.
